One of the most valuable features of Odoo is the ability to add custom apps/modules so you can tailor your system to work with your business’s needs.
Out of the box products are just too rigid for a lot of businesses, if they weren’t there wouldn’t be a need for the thousands of different software products out there.
for quite some time we have been personalising software to meet the customer’s needs and we have developed an idea which gives the customer the flexibility of how much they are willing to pay for a new function for their system.

One of the main obstacles in getting development done is the cost and timing. But what if it was up to you to decide on both?
As you can see below, we give you an option to reduce the cost of your development, in return for waiting a bit longer for the work to be done.
If you decide to reduce your development costs, then we will fit your work in when we can to complete the project. If you want it sooner, then just increase your priority and get the work done sooner.
If we consider you change is something that is quite marketable to other customers then we can prioritise as such.
If you select the highest priority of 10, this means you will have the App developed ASAP and the time confirmed 100% charged to you. There will also be no cost to purchase the app once it is completed.
If you select the lowest priority of 0, this means you have no App development costs. When available you will be up for the full price of the App Store. We will determine when the app will be created.
Once we receive your requirement of your app, we will give it a marketability rating, this will help prioritize development to those which are more marketable, as we will be looking at if other customer would be interested in purchasing it too.
For example, if we gave your app a 3 Rating on our marketability scale, and you selected a 7 Priority, then the expected time before the app is complete would be Approximately 3 Weeks. (assuming a job under 8 hours of work)

Earn Commission for your Ideas?
As you can see above, if you select one of the higher priorities you can actual earn a commission every time we sell the app. So if you idea and apps is very popular you could see this will reduce your total cost as well.
This option is only available on new apps, and not on modified apps.
We will explain this more in our Terms and Conditions when we send you the proposal.
What's your idea for Odoo?
The first step is to register your idea you have for Odoo, and we will come back to you with an estimate of time and a marketability rating.
After that, we might need to get some more information from you to get the details of what you need, and then you can give us the go ahead.
We have also multiple discount rates for different Hour Packages, and a refund policy for unused hours if you consider you are finished with fine tuning/testing phase.
Steps to develop your Odoo ideas
These are the steps you will follow to register your idea and get it completed.
Step 1 – Register your idea on our Freshdesk Portal, and select your Priority.
Step 2 – Receive back questions/feedback from our development teams (Normally the same day)
Step 3 – Send more information or discuss over the phone/video session.
Step 4 – Receive an Estimate of time, and marketability rating.
Step 5 – Confirm your Priority and give us the go ahead.
Step 6 – Purchase Service Package if required.
Step 7 – Receive Pre Release or further questions to your requirements.
Step 8 – Progress Demo of changes.
Step 9 – Completed Version 1 of the App, ready for you to Purchase/Download.
Step 10 – Fine Tuning and Bug Testing Phase.
Normally that will be all.
Note: Odoo apps are build for a single version of Odoo are if you decide to update to the latest Odoo version you might require additional work on the App to get it to work on the new Odoo release.

Costing Example
Let’s look an example development project. Let’s say we estimate your app to take 8 hours to develop. Now, remember this is just an estimate of the development time, so it could be more or less than this time. But if it is going to be more than what we first estimated due to unforeseen complications we will normally know early in the development and let you know the options.

As you can see, yes, if we think your idea is something that other users will want, we will develop it free of charge to you, but it will be at our control/planning on when this can happen. If we identify it as a highly marketably idea then it is quite likely to go into development and get completed.
Discounted Service Packages
If your development is significate in time, or you have a number of ideas to develop, we also provide a discount for the Development Hours you required.
* Prices are excluding GST and in Australian Dollars as at the 28th of August 2024. Hourly Rate packages might vary, but service packages don’t expire.
Effective Hourly Rate
Once you have an idea of the number of hours you will need for development, and the priority/cost you are happy with you can now work out the effective hourly rate you are actually paying.
For example:
- The total number of hours estimated is 67 hours.
- Priority 7 Level Selected.
- 67 hours x 70% = 47 hours expected to be charged
- 50 Hour Service Package purchased ($210 per hour)
- Total Estimated Cost is 47 hours @ $210 = $9,849
- Effective Hour Rate$ = $9,849 / 67 Total Hours = $147 per hour
- % Saving on Base Rate = ($300-$147)/$300 = 51%
If you have a look at the following graph you can see a bit clearer the Effective Hourly Rates you will actually be paying based on the Priority and the Packages for other Service Packages at different Priority Levels.
